‘Waterfalls’ by Robin Jones Gunn is book 6 in the
Glenbrooke Series of 8. This is a contemporary Christian romance series. Each
book can be read separately, but Glenbrooke is a small town where everyone
knows everyone, so you will run across other people from the other books in the
series. This takes place about a 1 ½ years after book 5.
Meredith is an acquisitions editor for children’s books.
She has come to Glenbrooke to celebrate the grand opening of the retreat center
run by her sister Shelly and her husband Jonathan (their story is book 5). In
getting ready for the big event, her hair is a blue plastic cap being dyed, her
face has a Sweet Avocado Bliss facial mask on her face and neck, and a
toothbrush and toothpaste foam in her mouth. You can just picture how strange
she looks when she comes out of her private bathroom to find a man on her bed.
Suffice it to say that there was a lot of screaming and yelling before he
realized he had the wrong room and left. Sometime later she meets the same man
in possibly an even more embarrassing situation. Can her day get any worse?
Jacob Wartman doesn’t quite know what to do about
Meredith. She’s certainly a strange character, but at least she doesn’t seem to
recognize who he is. Jacob is an actor who has become quite famous do to a
recent movie. Only Meredith heard someone call him Mr. Wartman, which is his
real name, rather than his screen name Jake Wilde. So she treats him like any
other man, rather than a hot movie star. Then she takes him to the waterfall
where the two of them have a quiet breakfast together while he takes shot of
the waterfall. He needs a location to film part of his new movie that he’s got
in the works.
Once Meredith realizes that he’s the Jake Wilde, she makes a cake of herself and starts acting like
any star struck fan. Other women over hear her and he gets surrounded by people
wanting autographs. Then it hits her want she just did. She knows that she’s
just lost her chance at a relationship with Mr. Wartman by how she treated him.
She now feels lower than dirt! Only things get worse when she goes to run an
errand for her sister! She figures that she’ll never see him again.
Turns out, Jake has written a series of stories for kids
that he plans to make into movies. And his agent wants to have the stories
brought out in books that correspond with the movies. And the person the
company picks to look over the books to see if they want to take on the project
just happens to be Meredith! Will Meri get another chance with Jake or will he
never get her fan scream out of his mind? Can she prove that she likes him for
him, rather than because he’s a star?
This is a great book and wonderful for ages 14+. It comes
in book and e-book formats.
