‘Clouds’ by Robin Jones Gunn is book 5 in the Glenbrooke
Series of 8. This is a contemporary Christian romance series. Each book can be
read separately, but Glenbrooke is a small town where everyone knows everyone,
so you will run across other people from the other books in the series.
Michelle ‘Shelly’ Graham is a flight attendant who just
got reassigned to the Seattle Airport. Until she can get situated in a new
place, she has temporarily moved back in with her parents. When she transferred
she believed that she would be getting an upgrade in status at work, but she
was down-graded to work on reserved status only. Shelly was an active person
and felted that she needed to keep moving. She didn’t like to sit around
waiting for a call to come in saying that they had needed an attendant for a flight.
When she goes to her old room, memories come flooding
back to her; especially memories that have to do with the former next door
neighbor boy, Jonathan Renfield. He had been her best friend for many years as
they grew up together. She realized that she loved him when she almost
seventeen. But after they graduated, they went their separate ways for various
reasons. She buried away her memories of him, but after coming home the
memories resurfaced. And with no other distractions, she finally allowed herself
to grieve for the loss of their friendship.
Her sister Meredith has to fly to Germany for work, and
Shelly goes with her to see the country. Meri has a friend from college, Jana,
over in Germany that the girls are going to stay with. Meri finds out from Jana
that Jonathan is over in Belgium. When they get there, Jonathan is in town for a
meeting. It’s been five years since they broke up. Some things have changed
about them and others have stayed the same. Shelly knew Jonathan was there and
wanted to surprise him. She’s the one to be surprised when she finds that he’s
just gotten engaged! Will things ever work out between them? Will Shelly
finally be able to move on now that Jonathan has?
If you like this story, then you’ll be happy to know that
there are more stories to come with Meredith. This story is good for all ages,
but probably 12+ would like it better. This comes in book and e-book formats.
