Two Stubborn Women

‘Orchard Valley Grooms’ by Debbie Macomber has two clean romance stories. And both stories slightly overlap with each other. These are the first two stories of three sisters. This story takes place in Orchard Valley, Oregon.

David Bloomfield had three daughters: Valerie, Stephanie, and Norah. His wife has died and two of his daughters have moved away from home. Valerie lives in Texas working for a computer company called CHIPS. Stephanie has gone to Europe to collage. Norah has stayed home and continued to live with her father on their apple orchard and became a nurse in the local hospital.

The first story is called ‘Valerie’. Valerie had flown in from Texas as soon as she heard about her father’s heart attack. When she meets her father’s doctor, she thinks Dr. Winston’s too young! What could he possibly know about heart issues. So she calls up her boss and demands the name of the best heart doctor around. So she’s the one who has to eat crow and apologize when she finds out that Winston is the best doctor in the country and has a new and innovative surgery technique that works wonders!!

Dr. Colby Winston has been friends with David Bloomfield for several years now. Whenever he visits, David always manages to talk about his eldest daughter Valerie. He thinks Valerie and Colby would make the perfect couple.

Colby, Norah, and Valerie have tried to get David’s spirits up, since David misses his dead wife so much, that he doesn’t have the will to live any longer. David barely makes it through the surgery. When he wakes up, he insists that he talked with his wife who tells him that he does have something to live for: his daughters getting married and the grandchildren they will give him. To prove it, she shows him who the girls will marry and their beautiful children. And David doesn’t have any trouble telling his daughters this! And he’s happy as can be to be right that Colby and Valerie will end up together. The problem is that his family all thinks that he had a nice dream while undergoing the surgery. They are happy that his will to live is back, but they don’t believe a word of it!

The second story is ‘Stephanie’. Stephanie finally arrived home about a week after she received the phone call about her father having a heart attack. She would have gotten there sooner, but there were transportation problems. She’s glad that her father made it through the surgery and is doing better, but she’s not sure how to take all his talk about getting a husband and kids. The only man she’s ever loved rejected her, which is why she left Orchard Valley and took off to Italy in the first place!

Charles Tomaselli is a news reporter for the Orchard Valley Clarion. Shortly after he first moved to town and got the job, a beauty young woman who was a senior in high school started coming around and talking with him. Once he realized that Stephanie Bloomfield had a crush on him, he firmly told her that she was too young for him! He did like her, but knew he should at least wait for her to grow up a few years and hopefully mature some. After he told her, she started finding ways to figuratively and literally throwing herself at him! After one particular episode, she left and never bothered him again. Only then she left for Italy as soon as she graduated. So he would pop by to see David and casually asked how Steffie was doing.

Now she’s home and she’s more beautiful than ever. Is the time finally right for them? Will she understand why he pushed her away like he did? Or does she still hold a grudge for how he rejected her?

These are great stories. If you want to read more, there is another book that has the third sister and finishes up the set. The stories come together in book form or you can buy them separately in e-book form.
