The Seamtress's Secret

‘Cassidy’ by Lori Wick is a Christian historical romance and is the first book of three in the Big Sky Dreams trilogy. This series takes place in Montana Territory in a town called Token Creek. This book takes place in 1880.

Cassidy Norton is the proprietress of Token Creek Apparel, where she sews and fixes already made clothing. Due to a family secret, she has moved around a lot. Because of this, she hasn’t allowed anyone to get real close to her or to learn her past. While she wishes for a husband and a family, she knows from experience that once her secret gets out, all of her friends no longer want anything to do with her. So she is friendly to everyone, but no one fully knows her.

Chandler Di Fiore works at the bank. He likes Cassidy, but he’s going slowly with her. He doesn’t wish to rush things and he hasn’t noticed her paying any particular attention to any other man.

Trace Holden lives on a ranch with his brother Brad and his pregnant wife Meg. Trace likes Cassidy, but he’s noticed that she spends time with Chandler and doesn’t want to push in if she already loves Chandler.

What will the town do when Cassidy’s past comes out? What will Chandler and Trace do? Will she lose all of her friends? Will she have to move again?

This is a nice book. It is a nice easy read. I personally had some trouble getting lost and sucked into the story and the characters’ lives. Most books are written from one or two or three people’s point of view. The problem is that Wick doesn’t spend the book concentrating on Cassidy and one or both of the men. She writes from the view of Cassidy, Chandler, Trace, Brad, Meg, Pastor Rylan, Meg’s aunt and uncle, ect. This doesn’t make the story bad, but it’s different. If you want to know many of the townspeople and a book that is easy to pick up and put down again, then this is a good book. (I’m not saying that this is a boring book, because it isn’t. I’m just saying that it’s not up to the high standard of many of her other books.)
