‘The Blue Enchantress’ by MaryLu Tyndall is a Christian
historical romance and is the second book of three in the Charles Towne Belles
series. Each book deals with one of three sisters and continues from the last
one.
Hope Westcott is one of Rear Admiral Henry Westcott’s
daughters. Her father and her sisters are all too busy for her and the love and
attention that she craves. While in Charles Towne, she falls for a man named
Lord Arthur Falkland. Because her innocence was stolen from her some years ago,
she doesn’t have many reservations about being with Falkland. He loves her and
will soon ask for her hand in marriage she assured herself. Then the day came
when he told her he was leaving and no mention was made of marriage to her. She
decides that she will stow away on his ship and wait until they are too far
away from land before she shows herself. Then he will have to do the noble
thing and marry her!
Not only does Lord Falkland get a surprise, but so does
Lady Falkland and Hope when she finally comes out of hiding. Falkland was just
playing with Hope and so she didn’t realize that she was his mistress!! Authur
plays at not knowing who she is and has the captain lock her away until they
reach small island of St. Kitts in the West Indies. There the captain has being
sold like a slave to any man who wants her!
Captain Nathaniel Mason first met Hope in Charles Towne.
He tried everything he could think of to get her to notice him. But she
rebuffed his affections at every turn. He is in St. Kitts when he sees her
being sold like a slave! He gives up something precious to him in order have
enough to buy her. Then he finds that she wasn’t kidnapped like he thought she
was, she willing boarded Lord Falkland’s ship! She wasn’t the woman he thought
she was. She was nothing more than a harlot!
Nathaniel doesn’t have much money left afterwards, so he
hires on to help crew the ship they take to return to Charles Towne. But
everything seems to go wrong after he saved Hope; a giant storm, being ship
wreaked, pirates, and many other problems! She couldn’t be the one the Lord had
picked out to be his wife!
**Spoiler** Although the romance wraps up between the two
main characters by the end of the book, the end of the book has the next sister
in trouble, so this book is to be continued somewhat.
This is an excellent book and it will keep you in
suspense throughout most of the book. If you love stories about pirates or
adventures on the high seas, then you should love this book.
