‘Steal His Heart’ by Diane Darcy is a clean contemporary
romance.
Daisy Manning is a shoplifter. Her father, Richard, owns
a security company and she wants to join. But several years ago, one of his
female security guards was shop while on night duty. Ever since then, he won’t
hear of Daisy or any other female joining his security force. So she decided
that she had to do something to prove that she was worthy of being in his
company.
Kent Whitaker has a security company and one of their clients
is Worthingtons Department Store. He takes turns going to the different businesses
and checking on his men. While in Worthingtons one day, he spots Daisy. He didn’t
actually ‘see’ Daisy hide the scarf, but he’s sure that she took it! So he
hauls her into the owner’s office.
Paul Larsen owns Worthingtons Department Store. Richard
Manning’s company used to work the security at the store, but now Kent’s
company has that job. But Paul still remembers Richard and his daughter Daisy.
He was a little leery when Daisy first came to him with her proposal, but it’s
turned out really well. And when Kent drags Daisy into to his office, he can
see the spark between them. So he decides to play matchmaker!
Daisy is being paid to shoplift items at the store and
then returns them to Mr. Larsen afterward. She later writes up a report on how
to put better security measures in the store to decrease the shoplifting. And
her suggestions have been implemented and the stealing has decreased quite a
lot since then. She had less than one month left on her six month agreement
with Mr. Larsen, when Kent brought her to the office. They both agreed that
security would not be told about what she was doing, or it wouldn’t be a true test.
Both Daisy and Paul are attracted to each other, but her
secret lies between them. And Paul will not tie himself to a thief, especially
after what his ex-stepmother did to him and his father! Paul knows Richard, and
feels sorry that his daughter is a thief. So he decides that he’s going to do
all he can to turn her life around. He’s going to stick to her like glue and
see if he can get her some help to change her life! But can he keep his heart
intact or will he fall for this thief?
This is a wonderful story. It will have you laughing and
crying and feeling frustrated right alongside of Daisy as Kent determines to
continue to stick his wonderful self into Daisy’s crazy life. This only comes
in e-book format.
