‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ is the first movie in The Chronicles of Narnia series, which was written by C.S. Lewis This movie starts off in London, England during World War II, when the
German airplanes were bombing the city. For the protection of the children,
they were sent to the country and placed with various people who had room to
house them. That part was based on true history, but this story is fiction.
This movie revolves around four siblings, two brothers and two sisters,
who are sent to a large estate that belongs to an older gentleman. While
playing one day, the youngest girl climbs into a wardrobe and walks all the way
to the back, to find a wood? Somehow the wardrobe holds a portal into another
world! A world with wonderful creatures thought to be a myth on Earth. A world
where animals talk, the trees are alive, and a human looking Queen rules the
land. A world that is always winter, but never Christmas!
Follow along as Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy step into the strange
and wonder filled world of Narnia, where adventures abound. Long ago the evil
White Witch found her way to Narnia. After many years, she took over and named
herself Queen of Narnia. She brought the eternal snows that cover the land. And
she will do anything to keep control over the land. But there is a prophesy
about four children that would come and stop her rein. And there is talk of a
powerful being who can help them to stop the Queen. It will be up to them to
find the great Aslan, who had not been seen in many years.
The siblings have stumbled into a land filled with darkness, danger,
intrigue, unknown enemies, new friends, and hope. They are just four children
from London, what can they do?
Each time a book is made into a movie, some things get changed. That is
true with this story. For those who have read the book, you might be
disappointed by the changes or you might like the movie better.
This movie is great for families, but it is PG due to the fight scenes.
I would recommend this movie to those that love adventure and fantasy. The
siblings learn many lessons throughout the story, and hopefully you and your
kids will learn them too.
Actually, there are two movie versions of this. BBC first produced ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ back in 1988 in association with Wonder Works
and made it to be shown on TV in several smaller segments, rather than show it
all at once. Because of that, this movie is slightly longer at 2 hours 45
minutes. Walt Disney Pictures later made their own version of 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe' in 2006 that is 2
hours 15 minutes long. You can also get the original book.
